About Sittella
Vines were first planted at Sittella’s location in Swan Valley in 1993. By 1998, Sittella has a functioning winery and welcomed patrons via its restaurant. In 2022, Sittella has one of the best Sparkling wine programs in the country. Not bad for a couple, Simon and Maaike Berns, taking a ‘punt’ buying the property after being inspired from their travels through France in the 1980’s.
Sittella is one of only a handful of Western Australian producers that has gone ‘all in’ on sparkling wine production - they have invested in all the specialist equipment and retain multiple vintages of wine (requires a lot of storage) to be able to create a consistently high quality ‘house’ style (like producers in Champagne) sparkling wine year after year.
